Donations were included as part of the women’s empowerment project for the women of the Myna Mahila Foundation in India. This initiative also involves fair trading of organic cotton bags from our partner in India. The entire campaign required extensive manual work, from harvesting to filling the bags and packing the boxes. Both the 24 bags and the box are reusable, making this project eco-friendly.

Dr. Hauschka’s sustainable Advent calendar is crafted with love and care through a collaboration that spans two continents. From the Swabian Alb to India, dedicated teams work together to bring this special calendar to life. It begins with the harvest and production of natural cosmetics and cotton bags, continues with the festive packaging of the calendar, and extends to supporting a women’s empowerment project. This Advent calendar is not just a gift—it’s a symbol of thoughtful craftsmanship and global collaboration of women empowerment.

1st Step

Harvest in our own garden, in our own fields.

Many of the medicinal plants we use are carefully harvested from our biodynamic garden or the Demeter-certified farm in Bad Boll.

Some are also sourced from controlled wild collections.

Manual harvesting is crucial to maintaining the high quality of these ingredients.

By hand, we gather witch hazel for our Facial Toner, marigold for our Eye Cream, and horsetail for our Moor Lavender Care Oil, ensuring every plant is handled with care.

2nd step

Harvest from our partners worldwide.

For plants that don’t thrive locally, we partner with organic growers worldwide.

We value both the quality of the harvest and the well-being of the local communities.

That’s why the castor, macadamia, and avocado oils found in many Dr. Hauschka products proudly carry the “Fair for Life” certification, ensuring ethical and sustainable sourcing.

3rd step

Our natural cosmetics are manufactured in Germany.

We also like to lend a hand when making our natural cosmetics.

The Dr. Hauschka facial toner, for example, is stirred by hand every morning during its 21-day maturing period.

This allows the precious ingredients to combine optimally.

In our laboratories, we check the quality of the processes and research the basics of herbal active ingredients.

4th step

The calendar design 2024.

This year’s Advent calendar design is inspired by traditional handcraft, featuring a charming potato print that evokes childhood memories and forms festive Christmas trees.

This technique gives the packaging a unique, handmade feel, adding a nostalgic and personal touch to the holiday season.

Our partner in India, MALMO Exports, oversees the entire production of our high-quality bags—from harvesting organic cotton to fabric manufacturing and sewing.

As a fair trade-certified company, MALMO Exports ensures fair wages, good working conditions, and a strong commitment to social responsibility.

We won’t let anyone stop us from packing.

Back in Germany, we add another round of craftsmanship to our sustainable Advent calendar.

Each bag is carefully filled by hand with selected Dr. Hauschka cosmetic products, and every box is individually folded and packed by hand.
