Guided by Nature, Driven by Care.

We carefully hand-harvest our raw materials from our medicinal plant garden, the fields of our Demeter-certified farm at the foot of the Swabian Alb, and through partnerships worldwide. Our commitment to environmental stewardship stems not only from our heritage but also from our responsibility to the future, ensuring sustainable use of natural resources.

From Our Fields to You: Organic & Regional Raw Materials.

Strictly certified organic farming safeguards water quality, enhances soil fertility, and supports biodiversity. Over 90% of our plant-based raw materials are organically grown, many to strict Demeter standards. This approach benefits the climate, as organic soils, richer in humus, store more CO₂, avoid synthetic fertilizers, and reduce energy use by 30–50%.

In addition to organic sourcing, we prioritize regional ingredients—70% of our fresh plants are locally grown, ensuring high quality and minimizing climate impact with shorter transport routes. For non-native plants, we source “as close as possible,” like our organic almonds from Spain rather than distant California.

Diversity in Nature, Wealth for the Future.

The Earth functions as a complex organism where interconnected cycles create a stable system—one that depends on responsible human involvement. We cultivate our medicinal plant garden using biodynamic practices and actively support biodiversity across our entire premises.

For instance, we plant heirloom apple varieties near our logistics building and limit meadow mowing to twice a year, allowing grasses, herbs, and flowers time to establish, providing nesting sites and food sources. Additionally, ponds, diverse trees, deadwood, and stone piles create habitats for toads, dragonflies, and numerous bird species.

We welcome you to explore our biodiversity trail, where various stations highlight our contributions to preserving biodiversity.

Responsible Packaging, Thoughtful Impact

Our cosmetics are free from artificial preservatives, so we carefully select packaging that best preserves each product’s quality. Product protection is key to conserving resources and supporting climate protection.

Whether tube, bottle, or jar, made of glass, plastic, or aluminum, each material has unique benefits and limitations, so we choose the most suitable option based on the needs of each product. Resource conservation is our priority. For Dr. Hauschka, sustainable packaging is always chosen based on four principles: product protection, material efficiency, recyclability, and recycled content.

Honest Commitment to Climate Neutrality.

Since 2020, we have operated in a climate-neutral manner at our headquarters in Eckwälden, with approximately 92% of our energy sourced from renewables, avoiding around 1,800 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. This achievement reflects our commitment to 75% climate neutrality without needing compensation.

For unavoidable CO₂ emissions, such as those from travel, we partner with the non-profit organization atmosfair, supporting a biomass power plant in India. However, we aim to do more by further reducing harmful emissions, as the current climate neutrality in Eckwälden is just the beginning of our goal to achieve zero CO₂ emissions throughout our entire value chain.

Everything we do impacts the planet.
